5 Ways To Prepare For Your Tarot Reading

3-minute read Feb 20, 2022

Tarot Reading is a tool for gaining greater insight into a situation as it really is without being influenced by your added emotional attachment. In order to get the best results from a tarot reading, you need to give some careful thought as to exactly what you want to know and what it is you wish to get from your Tarot session.

There are 5 ways you can prepare for this. By being very clear and focused on your question(s), you are much more likely to receive an insightful tarot reading. This will help you better reflect on your situation and show you the different approaches or paths you could take.

1. Research before your Tarot Reading

There are many Tarot Readers and Psychics out there, all of whom have very different personalities. You will get a better tarot reading if you can connect comfortably with your Tarot Reader. Check them out first online – look at their qualifications, background and training or read testimonials from their happy and satisfied clients.

2. Identify the area(s) in which you most need guidance

A day or so before your tarot reading, think about the questions you would like to ask.

  • What is your current problem, challenge or obstacle?
  • Is there a situation in your life, which is troubling you?
  • Do you need to know what is the best action to take?
  • Prepare mentally – what is on your mind?

At the beginning of your session, it can help to talk through any of your hopes or expectations with the Tarot Reader, so that they too have a clear idea of what to look for in your cards and how best to approach your reading.

3. Frame your question

Once you have your question, you may need to reframe it. Let’s say your question is:

“When will I find love in my life?”

On the surface, it seems a very valid question and one to which you really need an answer! However, it is far better when consulting the Tarot to reframe the question like this:

“What do I have to do to bring love into my life?”

You are still asking about when you can expect love to enter your life but this time the Tarot will be able to reveal far more information and give guidance on how you can make this happen, by revealing what actions you have to take first. It’s all about taking responsibility for ourselves and not being passive.

Here’s another example:

Will I get the job at the architects’ office?”

Again, a valid question but the cards can only reveal a yes or no answer. It is instead, far better to ask an open-ended question, which will invite deeper reflection, such as:

“What do I have to do to improve my chances of getting the job at the architects’ office?”

Asking the right questions is critical in getting answers, which will help you feel much more optimistic and empowered by the end of your reading.

4. Give it time!

Once you are at your Tarot session – give your Reader a moment to connect with you. Unbeknownst to you, a good Reader will be connecting psychically and spiritually with you while they are initially shuffling the cards and chatting.

Once your questions have been established and the cards have been laid down, allow time for the information to begin to flow. Your Reader will be busy piecing information together, noting psychic impressions, feeling the energy from the cards and picking up psychic clues. This is not something that can be achieved in three minutes. Information will be gathered as you progress through the reading. Your Tarot Reader will be listening to their intuition and applying it to your particular situation and question. It will only be towards the end of your reading, when the whole picture can be revealed.

5. Energy Exchange

Although you may be unaware of it, your energetic self will be connecting with your Tarot Reader’s energetic self. Even though you are physically talking to each other, bear in mind that there is also a sub-conscious energetic connection. Keeping the energy flowing during a reading is very important. If possible try to participate in the reading. Feel free to say yes you can take the information and importantly, feel free to say 'no the information does not make sense'. Your participation helps the flow of energy and while the energy is flowing between the Tarot Reader and you the sitter, more and more intuitive information becomes available and your chances of getting a fantastic reading are much higher.

The most important thing is to relax and enjoy the experience. Keep in mind that a Tarot reading will not show you the absolute outcome of a situation. We are all ultimately masters of our own destinies and the Tarot is simply a method of guiding and informing our decisions.
